Old ICF 2AC coach of 2000, with fans. Linen & curtains full of Allergens. By the end of Journey half of the travellers were coughing and sneezing
Complaint Description
I travelled from Shalimar (SHM) to Ahmedabad (ADI) by Train No. 12906 on 11.09.2026 in AC 2-Tier. I wish to bring to your notice the extremely poor condition of the train: The entire rake was an old ICF rake, seemingly from the year 2000 when the route was launched. Our 2AC coach was fitted with old ceiling fans and had very old, unhygienic washrooms. The linen provided and the curtains in the coach were dirty and full of dust/allergens. The train was delayed by 4 hours 45 minutes. We were forced to travel for almost 38-39 hours in this contaminated environment. Due to the dust and poor hygiene, by the end of the journey, almost half of the passengers in our coach had developed cough and cold, and a few even had fever. Train No. 12906 on the SHM-ADI route is one of the highest revenue-earning routes. Is this the standard of service expected for a passenger paying Rs. 3200 per ticket? While Indian Railways talks about modernization, the ground reality on this premier route is pathetic and worrisome for passenger health. I request you to look into this matter urgently and ensure that upgraded coaches with proper hygiene standards are deployed on this route.
