To,The Chairman,Indian Railways Subject: Severe Negligence and Passenger Exploitation in Sleeper Class Coaches Sir/Madam, This is not just a complaint—it is an outright condemnation of the shocking mismanagement and disregard for passengers traveling in Sleeper Class under Indian Railways. Passengers who book tickets well in advance are being treated as if their reservations hold no value whatsoever. Sleeper coaches, meant for reserved travel, are routinely turned into overcrowded, uncontrolled spaces where basic dignity and safety are completely ignored. It is deeply shameful that individuals without tickets or reservations are freely allowed to board and occupy already reserved coaches, and their journey is “legalize” only by paying a fine. This practice is nothing short of a systemic failure only but It effectively punishes honest passengers while rewarding indiscipline and misuse of the system. The result is chaos—reserved berths are encroached upon, aisles are blocked, passengers are forced to sit uncomfortably despite having valid tickets, and in many cases, even access to one’s own seat becomes a struggle. This is not inconvenience; this is outright exploitation. What is even more unacceptable is that this situation continues unchecked, as if it is a normal and acceptable standard of service. It reflects a complete breakdown of accountability and a disturbing indifference toward passenger welfare. If reservations cannot guarantee a seat, then what is the purpose of the entire booking system? Why should passengers trust or pay for a service that fails at the most basic level? I demand immediate corrective action: Strict prohibition of unreserved passengers in Sleeper Class coaches. Accountability for staff allowing such violations Real enforcement of reservation rules, not symbolic checks Restoration of basic dignity, safety, and fairness for paying passengers If this issue is not addressed with urgency, it will continue to erode public trust and expose passengers to unnecessary hardship and risk.
